BE POSITIVE - GOOD FOR HEALTH

Brain 'rejects negative thoughts'

Brain"Don't worry, everything will be fine," says the brain

One reason optimists retain a positive outlook even in the face of evidence to the contrary has been discovered, say researchers.
A study, published in Nature Neuroscience, suggests the brain is very good at processing good news about the future.
However, in some people, anything negative is practically ignored - with them retaining a positive world view.
The authors said optimism did have important health benefits.
Scientists at University College London said about 80% of people were optimists, even if they would not label themselves as such.
They rated 14 people for their level of optimism and tested them in a brain scanner.

There is a very fundamental bias in the brain”

Each was asked how likely 80 different "bad events" - including a divorce or having cancer - were to happen.
They were then told how likely this was in reality. At the end of the session, the participants were asked to rate the probabilities again.
There was a marked difference in the updated scores of optimists depending on whether the reality was good or bad news.
Dr Tali Sharot, lead researcher, gave the example of the risk of cancer being set at 30%.
If the patient thought their risk was 40%, then at the end of the experiment they downgraded their own risk to about 31%, she said.
However, if the patient originally thought their risk was 10%, they only marginally increased their risk - they "leaned a little bit, but not a lot".
Pick and choose
When the news was positive, all people had more activity in the brain's frontal lobes, which are associated with processing errors. With negative information, the most optimistic people had the least activity in the frontal lobes, while the least optimistic had the most.
It suggests the brain is picking and choosing which evidence to listen to.
Dr Sharot said: "Smoking kills messages don't work as people think their chances of cancer are low. The divorce rate is 50%, but people don't think it's the same for them. There is a very fundamental bias in the brain."
Dr Chris Chambers, neuroscientist from the University of Cardiff, said: "It's very cool, a very elegant piece of work and fascinating.
"For me, this work highlights something that is becoming increasingly apparent in neuroscience, that a major part of brain function in decision-making is the testing of predictions against reality - in essence all people are 'scientists'.
"And despite how sophisticated these neural networks are, it is illuminating to see how the brain sometimes comes up with wrong and overly optimistic answers despite the evidence."
Optimism seem to be good for your health. A study on nearly 100,000 women showed a lower risk of heart disease and lower death rate in optimists.
But as Dr Sharot points out: "The negative aspect is that we underestimate risks."

Positivism Through Psycho-Spirituality

Psycho-Spirituality
A Faster Approach
To
POSITIVISM

Psycho Spirituality
Integrated Medical and Holistic Treatment

INTRODUCTION
Psycho Spirituality concept registered under Health Services is an integrated approach of Clinical Psychology combined with Spirituality. It is one of its kind concept in India, for the first time, which talks openly about modern day medical science (i.e. Clinical Psychology) combined with Ancient Indian Wisdom and Practices (Spiritual Healing/ Spiritual Upliftment) which aims at holistic healing promoting “Healthy Mind –Healthy Body and Enlightened Soul” through Positivism.

Mental Health problems ranging from mild to severe, like stress, depression and anxiety are continuouslny on the rise in metro cities and other parts of our country due to stressful and demanding fast moving life. To cater for the needs of the people suffering from a variety of psychological ailments and to give them the best and effective integrated treatment through positivism and spiritualism, we have opened India’s first Psycho-Spirituality Centre in Dr BLK Memorial Hospital, Pusa Road, New Delhi. It is an Innovative Health Care Service concept conceived by Clinical Psychologist Ms Aakriti, an ex student of Amity University, Noida.

Psycho- Spirituality Centre promotes Intensive Spiritual Guidance and Counselling through Clinical Psychology and its methods, which are used for prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitate physical and mental disorder cases and to relieve an individual’s emotional distress or any other form of dysfunction or disability. Centre is also promoting governmet approved AYUSH and other publically well-accepted ancient Indian healing teachings and  holistic treatments like Meditation, Yoga, Yog Nidra and Spiritualism for igniting Positivism.

Psycho Spirituality Centre also conducts researches on a wide range of Clinical Psychology subjects along with Spiritual inputs.

THE NEED OF PSYCHO SPIRITUALITY CENTRE

Spiritual health and Spiritual needs of  general public are not being met by any organisation in our country. India is a spiritual nation, where more than 80 to 90 percent population either religiously follows or strongly supports faith based healing/treatments, before they even consider a doctor or a hospital visit in times of need. Even today, end number of cases knock at a doctor’s doorstep when they have simply been let down by all the kinds of faith/healing based solutions. Not to our amazement, even educated class people also some time blindly follow such rituals and healing methods. Therefore, we thought of conceptualising a new health service, namely Psycho-Spirituality. Our first and foremost aim is to bridge the gap between the medical sciences and families/patients to stop falling prey to old belief and methods of healing which has no relevance in treatment, thereby getting delayed for the proper medical treatment.

For giving the robust mental health to all class of people thorugh out our country,  Centre  also conducts many wellness activities under one roof and conducts de-stress and motivational programs for the corporate and government staffs and value based holistic living for students and youths.

 CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY

Assessment has long been a critical part of the clinical psychologist’s role. Clinical psychologists most commonly administer psychological tests for the purposes of assessing a person's mental health. Assessment, whether through observation, testing or interviewing, is a way of gathering information so that an important question can be solved.

Assessment of an individual's development, behaviour, intellect, interests, personality, cognitive processes, emotional functioning, and social functioning are performed by clinical psychologists, as are assessment activities directed toward couples, families, and group.

PSYCHO-SPIRITUALITY

First step towards your Spiritual growth. Discover yourself and lead life in right direction by igniting positivism. Research studies have proved that Meditation, Yoga, Pranayam, Surya Namaskara and Chanting OM etc. have immense effect on our mind, body and Soul,  All these holistic activities have also helped many patients to recover from chronic diseases and ailments,

SPIRITUALITY:
Basics Of Life: What We Have To Learn

Who are you? You are Soul not a body- Spiritualism is to know about Aatma and Paramatma? What is a right strategy of life to move towards Spiritualism? How to connect body with Mind, Mind with Vital force (Heart) Heart with Soul and Soul with Supreme power?

Understand five enemies of Life – 5 Vikaras (Kaam, Krodh, Moha,  Lobh,  Ahankar) and  How to recognize them and stay away.

Role of relations in Life- the difference between Personal Life, Family Life and Career Life and How to maintain balance among them.

Four objectives of Life-  Dharm, Arth, Kaam and Moksh and  How  to achieve first 3 to move towards 4th.

Theory of  Moksha- Paap, Punya- Theory of Rebirth. Interactive  session and case studies.

Holistic Living – Key to Positivism:

Life always moves in forward direction. When a baby is born it is small in size, it can not recognize parents ,also it cannot respond to any action, because its brain is not developed. Then day by day it keeps growing. The body grows to its full size within around 18 years; this is called Physical growth (Shaaririk Unnati). We do take proper diet, physical exercises and necessary knowledge to attain full growth of body. Along with body, mind also grows, with the help of learning at home, school and college. This is called as Mental Growth (Bauddhik Unnati). After completing education a person generally takes up job and starts earning money, first for himself, then for his family and next to make their future secure. This is called as Economic growth (Aarthik Unnati). Generally people stop here. But man's final growth is to discover the purpose of life and achieve the goal for which God has offered him life on earth. This is called as Spiritual growth (Aadhyatmik Unnati). Presently we don't find this growth in people, mainly because (a) there are no grand parents at home to give this knowledge (b) Secular type education at school and college has no provision to offer religious studies and (c) Society gives more importance to money and physical entertainment. Most people some time realize this lack of Spiritual growth and discover that their present life has gone waste, and they die unsatisfied.

There is always a right and wrong way of handling things. Every  individual works on right strategy to develop his/her life in progressive manner to lead our life. Spiritualism alone can guide us. Once we achieve spiritual growth, the inner light will take us towards right path and keep us away from wrong. What is necessary is that, one should be mentally prepared to achieve spiritual growth.

“Clean your slate (mind) and start writing new all over again” Most important thing is our own attitude towards our life, as well as towards other members of Society.  We must apply our ancient  concept with contemporary situations at home, at college, at office and in Society. This will motivate change in our attitude, more acceptability of thoughts, and develop new vision towards life.

There is a saying in our ancient Indian scriptures “Yath bhave tat bhavathi” meaning what you perceive in mind gets manifested in future.  POSITIVISM there needs to be awakened in the mind first to make it a permanent attitude in ones life. Psycho-Spirituality therefore teaches us and prepares us to be Positive mentaly.  A proven sutra of POSITIVISM for robust mental Health, We believe in positively changing people by inspiring them in their personal, social and professional environment. In doing so, we renew their respect for themselves and for each other, and give them a new look on their values, beliefs and perception.
We believe that any individual whether  he or she is a student, employee, employer, self-employed, middle aged  or senior, requires constant motivation and planning, to deliver the best for his own performance in life and no doubt PSYCHO-SPIRITUALITY is the right approach for  one to get  assistance and guidance in right path  for better prospects. We as a team, working towards the important task of uniting people together for a common goal  “Enlightened Global Society “ a dream, of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam our former President of India.

PSYCHO SPRITUALITY CENTRE

We come into this world with nothing and we leave it with nothing, so it is pointless trying to acquire lots of material possessions while we are here – because there is no net gain. Our material balance sheet is always zero at the start of our life and it is always zero at the end of our life, and no one is ever going to change that! But it is a different story with our spiritual balance sheet. If we end our life with a higher level of consciousness than we began with, we can claim success. Adding to our spiritual balance sheet by developing our consciousness is the one purpose that remains the same in each and every life, no matter who we are.
All living beings possess an inherent drive to evolve, to become the highest possible expression of life and to fully realise themselves.. We only learn lessons and develop new faculties through direct experience; theoretical learning does not develop consciousness. Psycho Spiritual approach is the application of mental concepts to lead one, to spiritual insight, revelation and growth. The cornerstone of psycho-spirituality is the process of taking responsibility for our mind-body system, and then moving towards a proper inner cleansing process. As we all know, bath gives freshness to our body, calmness gives freshness to our mind, love gives freshness to our heart and peace & happiness gives elevation and enlightenment to our spirit. To integrate Psychology and Spirituality for self management and psycho spiritual development, we have started India’s first Psycho Spiritual Research Centre in Delhi.
